Afghanistan’s children of war

Children are the biggest victims of the war in Afghanistan. A nation ravaged by 30 years of war and it is in these extreme conditions that children’s basic right to life and development is seriously compromised. The children there are at risk of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect. More than 1.6 million children are left orphaned in Afghanistan mainly due to conflict, depriving these children of family life. In the war, not only do children die, they can also be recruited and used to fight in armed forces and groups.

“What do you think the effect that two million Afghans martyred, 70% of Afghanistan destroyed and our economy eliminated has had on us? Half our people have been driven mad. A man who is 30 or 40 years old looks like he is 70. We always live in fear. We are not secure anywhere in Afghanistan.” That is why most children have wrinkled, rough skins .. Too much work no time for self care. There is no childhood in Afghanistan. If you are a boy, You are expected to be a man; to take care of the family from the moment you can talk,understand and walk be it 8 or 12. “War” that is whats happened. Fathers lost, dead and crippled. Children take over the responsibilities. There is only men and women in Afghanistan, no children no boys no girls no childhood and this is what war makes.
