Q:genuine question: i hate that my county drops bombs on innocent people in afghanistan and have killed thousands of men, women, and children in the name of 'freedom'. at the same time, i come across photos of afghani kids just hugging and loving soldiers. is there a mixture of love/hate for the soldiers? are they doing any real good? are they appreciated? or do most people in afghanistan wish that they would go home/never came.

Well, you see children are innocent, and Afghans are not the sort who teach their kids to hate strangers at least not most of them.

For example, I my self, because of seeing many bad things from these foreign troops, specially affecting me personally, made me hate these soldiers in my country and I want them out of Afghanistan, But at the same time when these troops pass by our city all the children of my city go to them, or look at them instead of hiding out including my own small brothers, cousins so on. That doesn’t necessarily mean they like them or approve of them. For our children, these soldiers are something new, something they have never seen before and children are always excited by new things.

Children don’t see the reality until they grow up and/or when they are directly affected by these troops like losing their fathers or mothers and so on by their hands.

Like my nieces now, Their father (my brother) was taken by the US troops for no reason ( for 2 and half year now) and he was totally innocent, his smallest daughter is 4 years old and she is scared of the foreign troops and hates them, because she knows they took her father away.

There is another point to consider here, you might have asked that because children in west only play around or show love to people they are close to and not strangers ( specially if the strangers are there invading your country and killing) you wouldn’t expect such behavior from western children. But Afghan children are different, they arn’t really taught not to talk to strangers and so on, they show love to anyone and everyone, Afghan children don’t get scared easily they are tougher than most children around the world. You will see them smile and laugh despite whatever pain they will go through and many of my picture posts might have shown that. But that doesn’t mean they have not been in pain or that they have everything or that they have perfect life, No. But you still see them smile and laugh all the time.

I hope you got my point? i mentioned that as an example to make things clear how things work here how people think here.

You should read my (this) post in which i did explain what the mistakes of these foreign troops are and why does most the afghan wish them to leave.
