FAQ

Q: Are you an Afghan?
A: Yes I’m from Afghanistan.

Q: Do you live in Afghanistan?
A: I live in Kuwait, but i visit Afghanistan regularly every year for 3-4 months.

Q: why do you write so many negative things about the US army in Afghanistan?
A: I do not write negative matters vaguely out of no where. I state Facts only with proper sources. Facts about the US/NATO soldiers in Afghanistan. Facts about their false war. And if that appears negative to you, then its probably because their actions are actually negative.

Q: Do you hate all Americans?
A: No, I hate the American soldiers whom are in my country killing innocent people. Blowing up buildings and destroying my country as oppose to what they claim they are here for.

Q: What does your URL means?
A: Watan means (my) country or homeland depends on the sentence it is used in, We afghans refer to Afghanistan as watan for example when we say we are going to Afghanistan we say ” I’m going to watan “.  Its originally Arabic word means homeland, but also used in Dari as well as Pashto language.  In my url it means ” my country Afghanistan “.

Q: Why does most afghans have colored eyes?
A: This is because of all the events that have occurred in Afghan history. Hundreds of invaders coming across Afghanistan only to leave their traces after being defeated. From the Greek to the mughuls to the British empire & to the Russian soviets. Alot of people from them have settled in Afghanistan after the wars, Bringing to Afghanistan these genetic traits.

Also through out history, Afghanistan has been one of the major trade route for merchants coming from Europe to India and China passing through hindu khush mountains. Thus alot of Merchants and traders specially from Turkey, European countries and India have settled in Afghanistan where they married and started their families. This all lead to the different ethnicity of the Afghan people.

Q: whats your ethnicity?
A: I’m pashtun.

Q: Are Afghans middle eastern? if not what are they?
A: Afghans are considered Caucasians. Caucasians does not necessarily means White White people, you see the Caucasoid peoples were usually divided in three groups on linguistic grounds, termed Aryan (Indo-European), Semitic (Semitic languages) and Hamitic (Berber-Cushitic-Egyptian). We afghans are the Aryans (Indo-European), or Irano-Afghan race. They are all sub groups of Caucasian. Though im not sure if the Hazara of Afghanistan is included in this or not, since they have Asian features.

Q: Did you take all these pictures?
A: No, All the pictures are linked with their sources if only you click through them. Those pictures which have not been linked to a source it is because i don’t know the source of it either and it is taken from Facebook or someone else who did not post the source. If you happen to know the source of it don’t hesitate to let me know. However the descriptions and articles which are posted along the images are mostly mine.

Q: Eww, Burqa sucks.
A: No it doesn’t, even if it is something that people outside Afghanistan don’t like fine, but Most of afghan women are used to it now, and wear it willingly. It is something that is related to Afghanistan and we shouldn’t hate whats ours even if you don’t like it. If you don’t wish to wear it, don’t. If you want to wear it you are welcome to. It is just a piece of cloth and shouldn’t be a big deal as the media makes of it.

Q: What is the origin of Burqa?
A: There are few theories as to where did the Burqa came from. It is believed to have come from Persians back when the Persian empire invaded Afghanistan. It have since stayed within Afghanistan’s culture and worn by most women. Women in most villages don’t wear burqa and when they go out, they simply wear a big scarf and their normal garments.

Q: Are afghan men cruel and harsh?
A: That is what the media wants to portray to the world, ” Afghan men are bad, they beat their women, they have no respect for women, they treat women as slaves” These are all things the media would want you to believe. Afghan men are the most tender hearted people ever. Though they are tough by looks due to harsh living conditions, they are very lively and friendly. There are good people and bad people everywhere. You cant take few bad examples and say all the men are such can you? But that is what the media is doing.

Q: Are girls allowed to study in Afghanistan?
A: Read this post.

Q: Are you a reporter or something?
A: No im not, but i take keen interest in political matters about Afghanistan. The reason is that the media and most of the press spread lies about Afghanistan to serve their purpose. I hate that, and so i have decided to publish the truth things people dont hear else where but that is just one of the reasons i made this blog. The main purpose is to show the world about this beautiful country and its culture.

Q: How in your opinion the US can bring peace to Afghanistan?
